14 November 2025 Leading gas and engineering company BOC, a Linde company, will soon offer Western Australian customers industrial gases with lower carbon intensity.

BOC will produce air gases including oxygen, nitrogen and argon, and cryogenic liquids such as liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen, at its sites in Western Australia using renewable energy from Kwinana Energy Recovery under a five-year Power Purchase Agreement.

The air gases and cryogenic liquids produced by BOC are crucial inputs for the mining, healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture, energy production and food and beverage industries.

“Western Australian customers will have access to critical industrial gases and cryogenic liquids with lower carbon intensity at a competitive price that can help drive down Scope Three emissions across a range of industries.

“BOC is committed to reducing our emissions by continuing to increase our use of renewable energy through this Power Purchase Agreement with an Australian-first waste-to-energy project.

“This agreement will support BOC in our pursuit of our target to reduce current carbon emissions nationally, while also supporting the state’s decarbonisation ambitions particularly for emissions intensive industries.”

Kwinana Energy Recovery is Australia’s first thermal waste-to-energy facility and is owned by ACCIONA. The facility will divert 25 per cent of Perth’s waste from landfill to deliver 38 megawatts of baseload power to the Western Power Grid.

The activation of the PPA follows BOC’s multi-state electricity retail agreement with Zen Energy and ACEN Australia announced earlier in the year which will replace more than 45 per cent of BOC’s grid power use in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales with solar energy.
